2015 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us.
We are working on a new large scale site-specific theatre production, Bridge Street, which will be staged as part of The Abhainn Ri Festival in Callan, Co. Kilkenny. This project is a collaboration with Devious Theatre Company, Equinox Theatre and international architectural firm, Studio Weave and will encourage community engagement throughout the development of the project. Directed by Pat Kiernan, the performance dates of Bridge Street are June 26th to July 5th.
In Autumn we will produce Gentrification, a short play by award-winning playwright and longtime Corcadorca collaborator Enda Walsh (Ballyturk, The Walworth Farce, Disco Pigs). It will be staged site specifically in Cork City in September.
Supporting new writing is something we have always been passionate about and this year we are delighted to be working on three new works by different writers. Each will be developed at the TDC with the support of Corcadorca.
Looking further into the future, we are also currently working on a new play by Pat McCabe (The Butcher Boy, Breakfast on Pluto, The Big Yum Yum) for 2016 to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. Entitled Sacrifice at Easter, the production will take place at a site-specific location in Cork. It will be the second time that Corcadorca and Pat McCabe have worked together.
