 Pat Kiernan (Artistic Director)
Pat founded Corcadorca in 1991, recognising that it was the only way he was going to work in the city. Pat has directed over 30 productions for Corcadorca, seeing the work performed in every theatre in the city as well in non-theatre venues such as Sir Henry's ('A Clockwork Orange'), Cork City Goal ('A Christmas Carol'), and Atkins Garden Centre ('Phaedra's Love'). Outdoor productions include 'The Trial of Jesus' on Patrick's Hill and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in Fitzgerald's Park and Fota Gardens. 'Disco Pigs', directed by Pat, received Best Production at Dublin Theatre Festival 1996, Scotland on Sunday's Critics Award, Edinburgh Festival 1997 and the Observer Play of the Year 1997. In 2002 Pat directed 'Mix it Up' by Ray Scannell and, in 2003, the workshop production 'Love' in the Guys building for the Cork Midsummer Festival. Pat also directed 'Snap' by Ger Bourke in the IAWS warehouse, Albert Quay in Cork. 'Snap' was also staged in Dublin as part of the Fringe Festival. In | 
| 2004, he directed "Losing Steam" by Ray Scannell which was staged in the old Fords plant in Cork. In 2005 for Corcadorca's "Relocation" series of European theatre, he directed "The Merchant of Venice", for which he received a nomination for Best Director in The Irish Times Theatre Awards.
In 2006 Pat directed The Tempest, staged in Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork. Woyzeck followed this in 2007 and was nominated for Best Production and Best Lighting in the 2007 Irish Times Theatre Awards. Pat directed two Corcadorca productions in 2008, The Last Beauty Spot and The Hairy Ape which took place in the Old Southern Fruit Warehouse Centre Park Road. In 2009 he directed MedEia as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival, which was staged in The Vertigo Suite on the top floor of The County Hall. In 2010 he directed Plasticine, staged in the Savoy on Patrick St.
Work for other companies includes 'The Oginski Polonaise' at the Gate Theatre, London, 'Road' at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Dublin, 'When I was God' for Red Kettle and 'Done up like a Kipper' at the Peacock. |
