TEATR BIURO PODROZY

Teatr Biuro Podrozy was founded in 1988 by Pawel Szkotak. The company not follow the model of traditional repertoire theatre. Most of the performances have been created according to the ideas and texts of Paweł Szkotak and the members of the theatre company. The search of the company's own language resulted in creating the Teatr Biuro Podrozys individual acting technique and ways of expression.

This multi-award winning company first achieved worldwide notoriety with the powerful Carmen Funebre. Teatr Biuro Podrozy are currently touring with Macbeth – What Bloodied Man is That, which was first performed in Cork’s Elizabeth Fort as part of Corcadorca’s Relocation in 2005. Last year in Edinburgh alone they won Fringe First, Critics Award, the Hamada Award and the Fringe Sell Out show.

Workshop
'Between Technique and Imagination'
An introduction to the training and working methods of Teatr Biuro Podrozy. After acquiring knowledge via a variety of diverse training methods, the participants will then be provided with the tools to adapt this knowledge to a scenic situation through both individual and group improvisation. The group believes in the concept of the actor as a psychosomatic wholeness, but they also stress the need to use the whole body as a basic instrument of the actor's craft.

What does it mean to be “alive” or “present” on stage?
How can the performer best exploit the dynamics of live performance?
What is meant by the rhythm, energy and focus of the performer?
Through both individual and ensemble techniques, the participants will discover a new awareness of the role, responsibility, imagination and potential of the stage performer.
Led by Marta Strzalko and Jaroslaw Siejkowski.
