Waterford School Yard Theatre, Charleville Brewery Lane Theatre, Carrick-On-Suir By Ger Bourke Directed by Pat Kiernan Cast Joe Meagher - Scooter Noirin Hennessy - Cathleen Garry Murphy - Charlie Donnacha Crowley - Nix This tragi-comedy set in South Kilkenny in the 1970's, was the winner of the 2000 Corcadorca Playwright Award. 'Banshee Makers' by Ger Bourke of Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, was the eventual choice of the judging panel from a total entry of almost 100 scripts. The award, a specially commissioned piece in ceramic and wood from David Holden of The National Sculpture Factory, (coincidentally another native of Kilkenny) was presented to Ger by Garry Hynes, Artistic Director of Druid Theatre Company in Galway. As well as the presentation piece from the National Sculpture Factory, Ger Bourke also got to see his script brought to the stage by the acclaimed Corcadorca Theatre Company. "Ultimately this is a production, which, through the character of Scooter, makes an emotional connection with the audience which is both compelling and surprisingly memorable."
